Abstract

The target of this article is introduction of the unique silver coin which has a special place on Cilicia numismatics, minted at unique trite (1/3 stater) unit of the Holmoi city. Peerless on literature, on the front face of this unique coin figurated a cavalier who rode a horse by side and on the rear placed prora and dolphin portrait. The cavalier riding horse figure on the front face of the coin copied from coin type of Kelenderis city. Formerly it was known that this type of figure applied only this city's coins, but unique coins shows that this kind of figure used also on the coins of different city at the same region. The front and rear face types of this coin show us a new situation about Holmoi city coinage. The prora portraid on the rear face of the coin is represented the unique sample in the Cilicia coin typology about Greek period. This coin as a unique published sample, shows that there is trite coined coin type in the Holmoi city coins. The coin type subjected to this article contributed new things with its features to Cilicia numismatics
