Abstract

The study area of the city of Adana, Seyhan district Turkocağı neighborhood and its close neighborhoods could be investigated using many methods and materials. One of these materials is believed to be a literary work describing this region. Therefore, the selected work, depending on many reasons, has been the book of Muzaffer İzgü, one of the important writers of Turkish literature, which has given dozens of works for children's literature. In this study, the images of the city in the 1940s and 1950s, which were the years mentioned in the book, were determined by using the Lynch analysis method. For this determination, the images in the Zıkkımın Kökü (Root of the Poison) novel using content analysis and then the city images of the neighborhood were determined through Lynch analysis and were compared. The findings of the study showed that the authors' point of view affects the way a city is perceived. In this study, which aimed to find the impact and the use of literature in relation with architecture as well as the impact of architecture within the literature, revealed that all places mentioned in the autobiographical novel titled Root of the Poison are present in the neighbourhoods that were subject to the story.
